Day 1

ZRH or BSL - Shanghai: Flight from Zurich or Basel to Shanghai.


Day 2

Shanghai: Arrival in Shanghai in the morning, where our German-speaking tour guide is waiting for you. Transfer by Transrapid to the city. Shanghai surprises with a rousing mix of old and new: spikes in the style of the Thirties, sky-high, futuristic glittering facades, but also refuges of contemplation and meditation, as well as smelling food stalls and colorful street markets. During an orientation tour, you will get to know the huge contrasts of the traditional and the modern side of this sparkling megacity.


Day 3

Shanghai: Today you will visit the famous Jade Buddha Temple with the almost life-size Buddha statue made of white jade. Then continue to the Yu-Garden, which dates back to the Ming Dynasty, in the midst of the lively old town. In the afternoon, you will learn about the European face of Shanghai in the former French concession and visit a silk factory. In the evening, a fascinating acrobatic show is on the program.


Day 4

Shanghai: Visit to the historic water village of Zhujiajiao with its Ming and Qing dynasty waterways, bridges, medieval lanes with steaming food stalls and a charming landscaped garden. Old traditional Chinese living and teahouses bring an almost forgotten China picture to life..


Day 5

Shanghai - Yichang: In the footsteps of the dynasties you fly to Yichang today. This city is located directly at the exit of the magnificent landscape of the Three Gorges. In the evening embarkation on your river cruise ship on the Yangtze.


Day 6

Yangtze River Cruise: Start your river cruise on the famous Yangtze - a highlight of your journey with unique landscapes. Admire the huge construction sites of the Three Gorges Dam, the largest hydroelectric power station in the world. You will experience the famous Three Gorges and drive past the twelve high peaks of the Wu Gorge. A picturesque tributary of the Yangtze is approached by small, traditional boats. Depending on the port of call you have the opportunity to visit the ghost town Fengdu or Shibaozhai - the gigantic red pagoda.

Chongqing - Xian: The cruise ends in Chongqing. Disembarkation and transfer to the train station for your train ride to Xian. Arrival in the evening and transfer to your hotel.


Day 10

Xian - train to Beijing: Visit to a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the stunning terracotta army of the first emperor of China. The sight of the larger than life clay soldiers - each statue with a unique face - is overwhelming. On the way back visit the Great Wild Goose Pagoda and a jade carving. In the evening train ride to Beijing (overnight in the 4-compartment).


Day 11

Beijing: Arrival in Beijing in the morning. Transfer to your hotel where you can expect breakfast. Beijing, the heart of the dragon and magical capital of a giant empire, offers 3000 years of history! Visit the stunning summer palace, the summer residence of the Qing emperors.


Day 12

Beijing: An absolute highlight awaits you with a visit to the 6000 km long Great Wall and the Ming Tombs. In the evening you have the opportunity to visit the Peking Opera or a Kung Fu Show (optional).


Day 13

Beijing: Full day excursion to the impressive Tiananmen Square and the nearly 600-year-old Forbidden City, also called the Imperial Palace, at the northern end of Tiananmen Square. Afterwards, visit the Temple of Heaven, the symbol of the city. Farewell dinner with Chinese specialties and others. also the famous Peking Duck.


Day 14

Beijing - Zurich or Basel: Transfer and flight to Zurich or Basel. Arrival the same day.
